Worst performance of the season.
An explanation (attempt).
The performance in the 3:3 draw vs Dundee on 14th of January was one of the worst of the season, it not indeed the worst.
There was a total lack of cutting edge in the midfield, laxity in defence, & passiveness up-front. The performance was definitively mediocre. The only player who did himself justice was Luke McCowan, & he was MotM – that was it.
There is a glaring possible reason for this (as many fans have observed) - the reason is that Y.B. Berne on 22nd of January are coming to Glasgow. We can see them in the distance on the horizon. It is hard to take it ‘one game at a game’ in these circumstances.
Beyond this, there is also a X-Men style ‘Juggernaut’ waiting for us – Aston Villa.
Forget Aston Villa though, YB Berne is an enormous game & forget must win, it’s win or Goddamn die (or that's how it feels).
Judging from the performance vs Dundee it looks like the coming European battles are on the players’ minds. How could they not be?
The reason for tonight's lackustre displays looks as simple as that.
This performance was historically similar to some very mediocre domestic displays leading up to European games in the 02/03 UEFA Cup Final year (Don’t worry …).
